Terry Venables the former England manager and Sun football columnist made history yesterday with the worlds first-ever performance ON TOP of The O2. Venables, Londons Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & a professional choir were assisted by a team of abseilers on to the iconic roof, which has been turned into a giant St. Georges Cross for the occasion.

So any chance to dig out a few more England songs from the past, well it would be rude not too!

Let’s kick off with my own personal favourite, World In Motion by New Order from 1990 and the Barnsey Rap….

You’ve got to hold and give,
But do it at the right time,
You can be slow or fast,
But you must get to line.
They’ll always hit you and hurt you,
Defend and attack,
There’s only one way to beat them,
Get round the back
Catch me if you can,
Cos I’m an England man
And what you’re looking at
Is the master plan.
We aint no hooligans
This aint a football song
Three lions on my chest
I know we cant go wrong…

Why is it the UK can never get a decent entry into the Eurovision song contest when there are clearly so many talented singer songwriters on these shores. Here we feature a song in ‘tribute’ to Leicester City striker Yann Kermorgant following his disastrous penalty kick in the Championship play-off semi final second leg shoot-out against Cardiff. In the words of another, take a bow son!
