Match Preview (RacingTraders)
Trading Preview
This is the first quarter final and it’s pretty safe to say that it’s not one that most football fans would have predicted. The pair only have two recent clashes of any relevance, in 2006/2007 where Poland won 2-1 at home before getting a 2-2 draw in Portugal. Both qualified from the group for the finals in Switzerland and Austria. Poland have undoubtedly played better than Portugal so far but the Portuguese keep finding a way to win which is a great mentality to have. Poland held their nerve brilliantly to beat Switzerland on penalties, a better display of penalty taking I have never seen.
So where is our angle?
Poland have won two by 1-0 , a 0-0 draw and a 1-1 draw but their play has been more attacking than that, they have missed a host of chances. They may not be able to afford to miss chances here, so Lewandowski and Milik will need to be on top form.
Portugal have failed to live up to their billing so far and are very lucky to be through. Four draws hardly screams of a team to be scared of but they showed signs in the Hungary 3-3 game that they can be dangerous at any time. The other side to that argument is that Hungary probably should have beaten them so they can’t be that good. Ronaldo is key, he has looked a bit off form and I think he’s not fully fit. On song he could rip the Poles apart but I think the game will be a bit of a deadlock.
An early Polish goal would be best for neutrals to open up the game but this game has draw written all over it. Two trading options, Back the draw at 3.0 and trade out at 70 minutes and/or Back Draw/Draw in the HT/FT market at around 4.30 and again trade out when you feel comfortable.
I can see the game being 0-0 but for those of you who also think that, remember to go with No Goalscorer, it is the same bet with the added cover of an own goal.
